Maidenhead Heritage Centre is inviting local families to the Nicholsons Shopping Centre on Saturday 15 February to 'Beat Brunel' by building the longest bridge they can from a large pile of Duplo blocks.
Heritage Centre trustee Richard Poad said "the arches of Brunel's famous railway bridge across the Thames are each over 128ft long, but sadly our supply of Duplo blocks won't run to that. But we do expect lots of different designs during the day and hope that some budding engineers will be found."
Every bridge will be measured and photographed and the winning family will be announced at the end of the day. The event is free and will run from 10.30am until 3.30pm.
