The 26th annual Maurice and Shelagh Bond Memorial Lecture, St George’s Chapel in the turbulent 17th century, will be held in the nave of St George's Chapel on Wednesday 4 November 2026. The lecture begins at 7pm and will last approximately one hour. Doors open at 6:30pm.
The speaker will be Clare Jackson, Honorary Professor of Early Modern History at the University of Cambridge. Clare is the author of Devil-Land: England Under Siege 1588-1688 (2021), which won the 2022 Wolfson History Prize; her most recent book is The Mirror of Great Britain: A Life of James VI & I (2025). In this year's Bond lecture, Clare will contextualise the significance of St George’s Chapel in the turbulent politics and religion of the seventeenth century.
