The 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards have the honour in their 375th year to be presented with New Regimental and King’s Colours at a ceremony to be held in the Quadrangle, Windsor Castle on Friday 13 June 2025. This parade happens every 10 years or so for the regiment, on which their new Colours are presented to them by His Majesty The King. There will be approximately 350 service personnel from the battalion, based in Victoria Barracks, taking part in the ceremony.
The parade will form up in Victoria Barracks, departing at 10:00 hrs, marching along Sheet Street, left into the High Street, right onto Castle Hill and then enter Windsor Castle via Advance Gate. The parade will form in the Quadrangle where a ceremony will be held. On completion the parade will march back to Victoria Barracks at approximately 12:45 hrs via the same route in reverse. Guests attending the ceremony will be parking on the Long Walk and will be entering the Castle via Cambridge Gate.
For security and crowd safety reasons, the roads forming the parade route will be temporarily closed to all traffic from 10:00 hrs – 10:30 hours and again from 12:45 hrs – 13:15 hours on both Thursday 12 June (for a rehearsal) and Friday 13 June 2025. No traffic will be allowed onto the closed roads, and this will include private vehicles, delivery vehicles, buses, and taxis.
To facilitate the parade, parking will also be suspended on the roads forming the parade route from 08:00 hours until 13:30 hrs on both Thursday 12 and Friday 13 June 2025. Please check signage nearer the time for the exact suspensions or refer to the RBWM website.
It is to be hoped that residents and businesses feel inclined to enjoy the spectacle on the route, which hopefully will take place in the Windsor early summer sunshine.
