Two hilarious comedians preview their latest work ahead of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Edinburgh Comedy Preview: Becky Umbers and Eli Matthewson is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Thursday 18 June at 8pm. Tickets are £12.50.
In a world overflowing with misinformation, is the only way to get the truth to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth? But what if that horse disagrees with me? What if that horse is lying? What if that horse…is part of the cover-up?
We all have that person in the family. The aunt who’s convinced the Earth is flat. The cousin who’s pretty sure the world is secretly run by lizards in human suits. In this show, Becky dives headfirst into the weird, wonderful world of conspiracy theories – including a few of her own. Why do people believe these theories? Are they onto something? Are you a conspiracy theorist? Are you a lizard? (Blink twice if yes. Wait, can lizards blink?)
Becky Umbers is a small girl that gets big laughs. She is an award-winning comedian from New Zealand. With a unique take on life and the voice to match, Becky was nominated for Best Female Comedian New Zealand 2022. She already made her mark in New Zealand and is ready to bring her quirky story telling and observations to the UK comedy scene.
Tell That Horse To Keep His Mouth Shut is a fun, silly comedy show that aims to question, understand – but mostly entertain – at a time when reality itself sounds made up.
Eli Matthewson is the first ever New Zealander to move to London and he has arrived just in time for the end of the world. Just as life was starting to feel safe and secure, he has thrown it all away and scraped into the UK on the last possible week he could qualify for the youth mobility visa. A show about trying to make something of yourself before society completely crumbles.
Eli is one of the most prolific comedians in New Zealand. He is a Christchurch raised, Auckland based stand-up comedian who regularly performs around London and internationally. He was a regular panellist on 7 Days, was in the first same-sex couple on Dancing With The Stars New Zealand and has featured on five New Zealand Comedy Galas. In 2021 his show Daddy Short-Legs won the Fred Award for the best local show in the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, and it went on to sell out shows and receive four and five star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Don’t miss this opportunity to catch two of New Zealand’s finest comedians for the price of one, debuting their latest work this June!
Tickets are £12.50
