Revolutionary and captivating folk artist brings tour to Maidenhead

After emerging on the UK folk scene with her 2022 debut album Dwelling by the Weir, Ellie Gowers performs live in Maidenhead at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Thursday 20 November at 8pm. Tickets are £15.50.

Ellie Gowers has captivated audiences with songs rooted in folklore, ecology and the nuanced stories of her hometown, Warwick.

Lauded by The Guardian as ‘full of delicacy, precision and gentle delight’, the album established her as a compelling new presence on the UK touring circuit. This expanded release builds on the critical success of the original EP which earned national airplay on BBC Radio 2 (Mark Radcliffe), BBC 6 Music (Lauren Laverne’s Fantastic Beasts) and RADMAC, alongside the KLOF premiere of her video A Moment and multiple major playlist features.

While she remains deeply connected to the folk tradition, Ellie’s latest music marks a bold evolution in her sound, drawing inspiration from the likes of MIPSO and Jeff Buckley. Her new material sees her pushing into more emotionally spacious and contemporary territory, while retaining the grounded storytelling that first brought her acclaim with 2022’s Dwelling by the Weir.

In October 2024, Ellie toured the UK supporting Gemma Hayes, with standout performances including her debut at London’s prestigious Union Chapel.

These songs explore the aftermath of life on the road: themes of absence, longing and emotional duality woven through rich acoustic textures and lyrical craft.
