Film awards season is in full swing and Norden Farm Centre for the Arts in Maidenhead have announced their latest cinema line up - featuring some of the most talked about films of the moment.
Film tickets are £10.50 | £9.50 concessions. School Holiday Family Screenings are £9 | £7 under 16s | Family & Friends (4 people) £28. Event Cinema tickets are £17.
The programme includes Bring Baby screenings (tickets are £5.50 including a tea or coffee | babies under 2 go free), Relaxed school holiday screenings and Captioned screenings (providing a transcription of the audio and dialogue from a film on screen).
Awards season is underway and two front runners are coming to Norden Farm’s big screen in February. Hamnet (12A), starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal, is nominated for 11 BAFTAs and eight Academy Awards including Best Picture. Based on Maggie O’Farrell’s award-winning novel, the film tells the powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
Norwegian film Sentimental Value (15) is nominated for nine Academy Awards and eight BAFTAs. Nora and Agnes reunite with their estranged father Gustav (Stellan Skarsgård), a once renowned director. When he offers a role to an eager young Hollywood star, the two sisters must navigate their complicated relationship with their father.
Other world cinema on the line up includes dark-humour in No Other Choice (15) from Korean director Park Chan-wook; and French drama Novelle Vague (12A) following a young Jean-Luc Godard making his first feature film.
Pillion (18) is nominated for three awards at this year’s BAFTAs – Best British Film, Best Adapted Screenplay and Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. This critically acclaimed film is an unconventional and surprisingly tender love story from writer-director Harry Lighton.
Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman who star in Song Sung Blue (12A). Based on a true story, the film follows two down-on-their-luck musicians who form a joyous Neil Diamond tribute band.
Based on the memoir by Helen Macdonald and starring Claire Foy, H is for Hawk (12A) is screening in February. When Helen's beloved father passes away, she becomes obsessed with the idea of training her own goshawk. Leading her to bring the fearsome bird Mabel into her home and life.
Is This Thing On? (15) is based on the story of comedian John Bishop and directed by Bradley Cooper. The film follows Alex and Tess Novak, who find themselves at a crossroads. Facing middle age and the spectre of impending divorce, Alex seeks renewed purpose in the New York stand-up comedy scene.
Step back in time with screenings The History of Sound (15), following Lionel (Paul Mescal) and David (Josh O’Connor) on an impromptu journey to collect traditional folk songs. And the highly anticipated new film from director Emerald Fennell – “Wuthering Heights” (cert tbc).
Relaxed school holiday screenings for February Half Term include Disney’s Zootropolis 2 (PG) and Kensuke’s Kingdom (PG), an animation based on the story by Sir Michael Morpurgo.
Event Cinema this season includes the return of National Theatre Live: The Audience to the screen; Peter Wright’s 1985 production of The Royal Ballet: Giselle; and David Harewood and Toby Jones in Othello.
With a whole host of titles on the line up to choose from, a Café Bar serving drinks you can bring in with you, lunch and dinner menus, plus free parking on site – what better excuse to catch a movie at Norden Farm this spring?
