Get ready for an unforgettable evening at the Norden Farm Jazz Club this Valentine’s Day. This month’s event is headlined by Marta Mathea Radwan (vocals) at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Saturday 14 February at 8pm. Tickets are £17.50.
Marta joins the Alex Hutton trio, plus some surprise guests. For this special concert, Marta has crafted a captivating blend of love songs from the American and Polish Jazz Songbooks, each reimagined with her signature twist. As a highlight of the night, Marta will be joined on stage by one of her vocal groups.
Dr Marta Radwan is an award-winning conductor, vocalist and workshop leader, with an international career spanning over three decades. She holds a Doctor of Music degree from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, specialising in jazz conducting. Marta is the co-founder of the Association of Polish Jazz Musicians in London and she teaches at Brunel University, whilst performing actively as a jazz vocalist.
In the United Kingdon, she is best known for leading several music projects including Alle Choir London, Offbeat Choirs, Scandinavian Singing Club, and the Jazz For Kids Show. Marta also leads Norden Farm’s Daytime Choir and Bring Baby Choir.
Alex Huttton is on piano. Alex is an established pianist on the London jazz scene. Over the past 10 years, he has worked with many of the leading figures including Jim Mullen, Pete King and more. He began playing piano at the age of five. After completing a BA (Hons) degree in American Studies, he turned his focus fully to jazz piano, winning the appraisal of the late Ronnie Scott.
Rob Rickenburg is on bass and is known for his work in jazz, playing with notable musicians like Spike Robinson and Derek Nash. He began playing double bass in 1977 and has a presence on music platforms and was a credited actor for the short Breaking Bazz.
Eric Ford is on drums and has had a career working on many musical projects, with musicians from all over the world. When he was at university, he took drum lessons from legendary Birmingham player and teacher Malcom Garrett and became drummer with the Midland Youth Jazz Orchestra.
Expect an elegant, heartfelt show filled with refined style, lush arrangements and irresistible harmonies that will stay with you long after the final note.
