Alan Barnes is a prolific international performer, composer, arranger, bandleader and touring soloist. Join him for the Norden Farm Jazz Club: Alan Barnes Quartet with the Alex Hutton Trio at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Friday 4 September at 8pm. Tickets are £17.50.
Alan Barnes is best known for his work on the clarinet, alto sax and baritone sax. He combines formidable virtuosity with a musical expressiveness and collaborative spirit that have few peers.
He has released more than thirty albums as a leader and co-leader and his session and sideman credits include Björk, Bryan Ferry, Michel Legrand, Clare Teal, Westlife, Jools Holland and Jamie Cullum. He has toured and held residencies with some of jazz’s most demanding names including Ruby Braff, Freddie Hubbard and many more.
Alan’s distinctive musicianship, indefatigable touring and warm rapport with audiences have made him uniquely popular in British Jazz. He has received over 25 British Jazz Awards and has twice been named BBC Jazz Musician of the Year.
Joining Alan Barnes is the Alex Hutton Trio. Alex Hutton is an established pianist on the London jazz scene. Over the past 10 years, he has worked with most of the leading figures (such as Jim Mullen, Pete King and more). He began playing piano at the age of five. After completing a BA Hons degree in American Studies, he turned his focus fully to jazz piano - where he won the praise of the late Ronnie Scott.
Expect an evening of virtuosity, swing and musical chemistry as Alan and the Alex Hutton Trio join forces for a standout night of live jazz.
