The late Sir Michael Parkinson is remembered in this new show, devised and presented by his youngest son. Parky in Words and Music is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Thursday 17 September at 8pm. Tickets are £19 (plus a £1.90 per transaction booking fee).

One of Britain’s most loved broadcasters is remembered in a unique and deeply personal evening, created and presented by Michael Parkinson’s son Mike Parkinson.

Joining Mike on stage are award winning vocalist Becki Biggins and acclaimed jazz pianist Ben Goodman, performing specially arranged versions of the songs that meant the most to Sir Michael – from the Great American Songbook to timeless classics that became the soundtrack to both his life and career.

Far more than a tribute concert, Parky in Words and Music traces Sir Michael’s journey from the Yorkshire mining village of Cudworth to becoming one of Britain’s greatest interviewers and one of television’s most enduring icons.

Audiences will hear the stories behind his early days in journalism, his encounters with The Beatles, Muhammed Ali, Orson Welles and countless other legendary guests. Alongside touching memories, humorous behind the scenes anecdotes and reflections on the man behind the camera.

This performance also has a special local connection, with Mike sharing memories of his father’s affection for Bray and the family ties to the area, making this Maidenhead performance particularly meaningful.

Warm, funny, nostalgic and moving in equal measure – expect a revealing and entertaining evening, celebrating an incredibly unique man.
