Spanish Flamenco dancer returns to Maidenhead

This dance performance is theatrically woven together. Rebeca Ortega Flamenco – Silences is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Friday 27 June at 8pm. Tickets are £18.

This dance performance comes from the tradition and avant-garde of flamenco culture and Rebeca is accompanied by traditional flamenco musicians. Dance is expressed through the depth of the siguiriya, the femininity of the guajira, the intensity of the farruca, and the rhythms of the jaleos and bulerias.

In a world filled with internal dialogues and an excess of noise and information, are we truly in control of our decision? Often, we are overwhelmed by anxiety, hindering our mental calm. As a result, there arises a need to reflect on the value of silence in our society, in a flamenco piece full of passion, strength and elegance.

Rebeca Ortega is known for her strong expression, sense of rhythm, elegance and high level of physical and multidisciplinary abilities. She has been nominated in the Dancer category at the Seville Stages Awards 2024 for her production of flamenco roots and at the same time avant-garde Silences, which filled two night at the Teatro La Fundicion in Seville.

Rebeca has had the privilege of being nominated by the Embassy of Spain to represent flamenco art with her company in every corner of the world.

She is accompanied by Ramon Ruiz (guitarist and composer), Carlos Lobo (vocalist and palmas) and Sebastian Ruiz (percussionist).
