Known for his virtuosic high-energy violin playing and engaging stage presence. The George Washingmachine Quartet is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Saturday 19 July at 8pm. Tickets are £17.50.
Australia’s second most famous cultural export George Washingmachine leads the quartet with characteristic eccentricity, charm and humour.
Feeling all strung out? Life in a spin? Well, then, let the dreamy music of George Washingmachine wash away the dust of everyday life.
A master showman whether playing toe-tapping jazz, soulful blues, or uplifting melodies, when it comes to knuckle-busting feats on a violin, George doesn’t play second fiddle to anyone! From Sydney, George Washingmachine is a captivating old school entertainer – he’s a violinist who sings, a blues guitarist, and a visual artist.
He has played all the major festivals around Australia (including an ambassadorial role at The Clarence Jazz Festival in Hobart). He regularly tours in Europe appearing at festivals in France, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.
In his quartet are guitarists Dave Kelbie of Dime Notes and Django a la Creole fame, John Kelly from the Fleeting Paradise Orchestra, plus bassist fellow Australian Mark Elton, a regular with the Scott Hamilton band.
Tickets are £17.50
