Nearly 10,000 dogs from all over the UK and from overseas will arrive in Windsor for the very popular Windsor Championship Dog Show – the largest event of its kind in the South of England and amongst the biggest in the UK.
With Windsor Castle as a backdrop and a ‘garden party’ atmosphere it is very popular with everyone.
The Windsor Championship Dog Show is a great day out for dog lovers, with nearly 200 breeds to see over the four days.
Thinking of getting a dog? The show is perfect for those researching the right breed of dog for them and discovering lesser-known breeds you may not even have heard of!
Find out more about dog showing and the various activities you can get involved in with your own dog.
Expert members of the Kennel Club will be on hand to help with your enquiries.
Each day will host different breeds of pedigree dogs, divided into seven groups.
Thursday 1st July - Gundogs
Friday 2nd July - Hounds and Utility
Saturday 3rd July - Terriers and Toys
Sunday 4th July - Working and Pastoral
The pedigree dogs taking part will be judged on a number of factors in the ring, including temperament and that they are fit, healthy and good examples of their breed, as they compete for the ultimate Best in Show award.
There will be over 60 dog-related trade stands and quality food vendors, with a running buffet, refreshments, ice cream in abundance and an Overseas Hospitality Tent for our overseas visitors who come from as far away as Australia, the US, South Africa and Japan.
The show promises to be an interesting and entertaining weekend for all. Admission is FREE and car parking is £10 per car. No dogs are allowed to be left in cars in the car park, under any circumstances.
Visitors who wish to bring their own dog can do so as a ‘Spectator Dog’. All spectator dogs must be over 6 months of age, fully vaccinated and kept on a collar and lead at all times. A brief form must be completed at the entrance of the show and a fee of £5 paid.
