Windsor Local History Group, formed in 1976 and celebrating fifty years this year, will be holding the second of its exciting new Local History Research Days this Saturday 11th July in the Thames Room, Windsor Library, Bachelors Acre SL4 1ER. Entry is FREE and all are welcome!
The 50th Anniversary is proving a perfect opportunity for WLHG to expand its range of community outreach activities. Having undertaken and published research over the past five decades, the group is especially keen to share some of the most useful research resources with everyone interested and to explain how to use them. They're also extremely happy to look at and discuss maps, books, photographs, newspaper reports and other records of local information as well as share insights and knowledge from their outstanding and continually growing "Living Resource".
The afternoon will be run in two parts:
1:00pm-3:00pm Research Skills Session - Learn how to research local and family history using library and archive resources.
FREE entry, prompt start at 1:00pm
Reserve your place on https://windsorlocalhistorygroup.org/local-history-research-day/
3:00pm-5:00pm Archive Open Afternoon - Explore historic maps, documents and local history collections.
FREE entry, flexible arrival anytime
WLHG Chairman, Margaret Kirby, is delighted by fascinating new dimensions that Local History Research Days are adding to the group's work.
She said, "We've loved the inspiring excitement the Research Days are generating, both for visitors and our group members. We're also deeply grateful to Windsor Library staff for their warm welcome and generous support which have enabled these events to be planned and take place. The history and archaeology of Windsor and its environs are fascinating, and we feel truly privileged to be able to share these with an increasing number of individuals locally as well as worldwide through our wonderful website."
