Dr Rowan Williams

About

Rowan Williams was Archbishop of Canterbury and earlier Archbishop of Wales, before becoming Master of Magdalene College, Cambridge (2013-2020).

He completed his doctorate at Christ Church, Oxford, and Wadham College, Oxford, on the theologian Vladimir Lossky, and held academic and clerical posts in Cambridge and Oxford, including Lady Margaret Professor of Divinity and Fellow and Dean of Clare College, Cambridge. He later became Bishop of Monmouth and, in 2000, Archbishop of Wales.

A Fellow of the British Academy, poet, and translator, he has published widely on theology, history, and politics, and holds numerous honorary doctorates.

Rowan's latest book, Solidarity - The Work of Recognition, is released on 26 March and copies will be on sale at the Conversation.

Join us for thought-provoking discussions on the big issues of today
We're delighted to announce the latest of our Cumberland Conversations - offering fresh perspectives on some of the most pressing challenges facing society today. Join us here at Cumberland Lodge for the chance to engage with influential voices in business, politics, biodiversity, science, war, education, espionage, the arts, and more. They'll share insights and reflections on the tough decisions they've faced in their careers, and the ethical leadership lessons they've learned along the way.

Supporting our work
By attending a Conversation, you're supporting our charitable mission - the funds raised through ticket sales help us develop the next generation of leaders through our educational programmes.
Please book early as tickets are limited.
