About

The Old Court Artspace & Firestation Bar is Windsor's community cultural hub, housed in a magnificent Edwardian building that has been at the heart of civic life since 1907. Originally home to Windsor's police station, magistrates' court and fire station, it was reimagined as an arts centre in 1981.

Today, under new management, it offers Windsor's first digital cinema, live music, big bands and orchestras, a DJ hub, Open Mic, variety nights, magicians and comedy, as well as art classes, ballet, karaoke, art exhibitions and both amateur and professional theatre. The Old Court contains interesting and unique spaces that are available for private hire and is used by local community organisations to host weekly classes and workshops, including photography, dance, singing, theatre and art classes for both adults and children.

Community wellbeing is a massive focus for us, and we actively host and promote talks and workshops relating to mental health, menopause, LGBTQ+ and anti-racism issues. We are also proud to be part of Windsor & Eton Pride's SafeSpace4All  scheme where every visitor is welcome and safe. We are family and dog friendly, and with our diverse and varied programme, everyone is guaranteed a great time.

Our Art gallery is available to hire to local artists on a monthly basis, and is free to the public to view, offering a wonderfully diverse selection of art, textiles and mixed media all year round.

Our newly launched Youth programme promotes art, crafts, music, theatre and film production for Windsor's under 18s, and our youth team hosts regular Wednesday Clubs for meet ups, and 'dry bar' gigs with Youth film production, and performances by our resident Youth Band, Fordhouse Band.

The Old Courters caters for our Over 65s audience and provides a matinee screening of a classic film. It’s a great chance for a friendly and sociable meet-up and an opportunity to enjoy a film together. Meet in the Bar area beforehand for tea, coffee, biscuits and a delicious cake of the day. It’s just £7 including refreshments and a dedicated member of staff available to assist at all times!

The Firestation Bar, set within the original engine house, serves beers from all three local Windsor breweries, local gins, wine and a range of exciting cocktails inspired by literature and the arts including our signature 'Flaming Firestation'. The bar is a popular hangout during the week, a busy hub with live music on Fridays, DJs and theatre on Saturdays and a cosy, laid back 'community living room' on most Sunday afternoons with acoustic music.

The first Sunday of the month is our big Soul Stew event where a selection of our resident DJs, led by Catherine Jackson of Girls Record Lounge, take over the bar from 2 - 7 pm and everyone dances the day away. We also run a monthly,  themed 'World Day' with music and food trucks from our chosen location. We have a delicious range of food pop-ups available at these bigger events, although you can always order in, or grab a takeaway, from one of our neighbouring restaurants if you prefer!

At its heart of the venue is a dedicated new team and passionate community of volunteers, including local tradespeople, who are giving their time, skills and materials to staff, restore and rejuvenate this iconic building. The Old Court provides the perfect environment in which to enjoy the arts, or to just relax, as well as programmes specifically for all Windsor residents, young and old alike, because this venue truly belongs to Windsor, and Windsor belongs to it.
