About

A dark comedy cleverly told on stage using three live cameras

A dog with a bird-killing problem. Two people stitching their relationship together. A shed filled with taxidermy pets. Bark Bark is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Tuesday 18 November at 7.30pm. Tickets are £16.50. Age guidance 12+ years.

A young couple respond to a dog-sitting advert expecting a free weekend away. Nosing around the house, they discover the owner competes in dog shows. Walking into a shed full of taxidermy dogs, they conclude she might also be a taxidermist. After realising the pet they’re looking after could share the same stuffed fate, they scramble for a solution to save the dog.

The dog in question has a taste for killing sparrows, only rivalled by the fox who lives just beyond the garden fence. Through overhearing conversations and peeking through doorways from the dog’s point of view, the secrets of the house and the pair’s relationship are slowly uncovered.

Bark Bark is a dark comedy told from the perspective of a dog. Utilising three live cameras, puppets, diorama sets, and foley microphones, five performers weave together a live animation. It combines the live cinema utilised by theatre directors such as Katie Mitchell and Jamie Lloyd and the playful style of contemporary animation and puppetry.

A delicate, eerie and amusing look at three lives, human and non-human, from emerging live-cinema company Buzzcut.
