On Friday 5th June, His Majesty The King will present new colours to the Royal Marines. Several hundred troops will march through Windsor, from Victoria Barracks, up to Windsor Castle where the private presentation ceremony will take place in the Castle Quadrangle. The last time the Royal Marines received new Colours was in 2001.
Visitors and local residents are invited to line the streets to watch the Royal Marines as they proceed on their way up to their ceremony, on Friday morning. Roads along the route will be closed to enable the massed troops to safely proceed.
The parade will form up in Victoria Barracks, departing at 11:10, marching along Sheet Street, left into the High Street, right onto Castle Hill and then enter Windsor Castle via Advance Gate. The parade will form in the Quadrangle where a ceremony will be held.
There will be a small Flypast of two aircraft along the Long Walk sometime after 12:30, following which the Royal Marines will march from Windsor Castle, through Cambridge Gate (at the top of the Long Walk) and down the Long Walk passing through Long Walk Gate.
• Road closed: 11:00
• Royal Marines step off from Victoria Barracks: 11:10
• Arrival at the Castle: 11:45
• Road reopens: 12:00 (approximately)
• Presentation of Colours (private presentation ceremony in the Castle Quadrangle): from 12:00
• Royal Marines march from Windsor Castle through Cambridge Gate (Long Walk only) to Long Walk Gate plus Flypast of two aircraft: from 12:30
To ensure the safety of residents, visitors, and participants, temporary road closures and parking suspensions will be in place as follows:
Sheet Street, High Street, Thames Street 4 & 5 June 2026 – 6.00am to 1.00pm
Sheet Street, High Street, Castle Hill, Thames Street, St Albans Street 4 & 5 June 2026 – 11.00am to 11.45noon
Access will also be restricted on: Peascod Street, Church Street, Market Street, Church Lane, Park Street, and the entrance to Windsor Royal Shopping Centre.
