About

Ready for a challenge? This August and September, climb to the top of Windsor Castle's iconic Round Tower and be rewarded with spectacular views stretching for miles.

The Conquer the Tower Tour takes you up 200 steps to one of the Castle's most recognisable landmarks. At the top, an expert guide will share fascinating stories about the Tower's history, its strategic importance and its place at the heart of the world's oldest and largest occupied castle.

Once you reach the summit, you'll enjoy a unique bird's-eye view from 65.5 metres above ground. Take in sweeping vistas across Windsor Great Park, the Thames Valley and, on a clear day, even the London skyline.

You'll also gain a new perspective on Windsor Castle itself, with unrivalled views over its three distinct wards:

  • The Lower Ward, home to the magnificent medieval St George's Chapel.
  • The Middle Ward, centred around the original Norman motte and crowned by the famous Round Tower.
  • The Upper Ward, where the State Apartments and Royal Apartments are arranged around the Quadrangle.

Looking south, you'll see the impressive Long Walk, the five-kilometre tree-lined avenue created during the reign of Charles II. The tour also offers a close-up view of the Castle's towering flagpole, which flies the Royal Standard when His Majesty The King is in residence and the Union Flag when he is away.

Your ticket includes admission to Windsor Castle, giving you the opportunity to explore the Castle's many attractions before or after your tower adventure.
