The Castle Hotel Windsor to undergo exciting £9.5 million transformation

Sutton Hotel Collection has announced a £9.5 million refurbishment of The Castle Hotel Windsor, to be completed in 2026. The multi-phase transformation led by interior designers including 3DReid will start in November 2025 and see a full refresh of all bedrooms and suites across the hotel.  Starting with the Mews and bedrooms in the original hotel, and concluding with the Park Wing, the refresh will also involve a redesign of the ground floor and the launch of a new British brasserie concept in the restaurant.  A significant aspect of the investment includes the team which will be increased and developed to deliver an enhanced guest service.  The programme will run throughout 2026 with completion scheduled towards the end of 2026.

Dining at The Castle Hotel Windsor

A stay at The Castle Hotel would not be complete without a meal in Leaf Restaurant. It offers creative cuisine showcasing the finest locally sourced produce with meals that nourish both the mind, body and the soul. Enjoy breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.  Year round, you will also find our beautiful garden terrace open – a little oasis just a couple of steps from the main High Street.  With heaters, blankets and hot water bottles to keep you snug in the winter and a sun trap in the warmer months, it is a really popular spot for a cocktail or catch-up over coffee. Pets are also welcome in the garden.

History of The Castle Hotel Windsor

The Castle Hotel began life in 1528 as The Mermaid Inn – humbly brewing beer and cider for the people of Windsor. However, in the 1700s the innkeeper Richard Martin was awarded the first of the hotel’s eight Royal Warrants – to provide horses and carriages for the royal household – and the hotel grew to become one of the grandest hotels in town. By the 19th century, Castle Hotel was unrivalled as the finest place to stay in Windsor and even the Duke of Wellington stepped in to dine after his victory over Napoleon at the battle of Waterloo.

Enjoy a warm welcome at The Castle Hotel Windsor

It is the small details that matter and, at The Castle Hotel, our team will make your welcome very warm, deliver authentic hospitality, advise you on the best places to see and go and bid you a fond farewell when you leave.
