Dragged Through Time (12)

Dragged Through Time is a fast-paced cinematic odyssey telling 1000 years of gay history: the pain, the rebellion, and the glory.

Bored on a sightseeing trip, 13-year-old Isaac runs off in search of self-discovery. Soon, vivid daydreams pull him across centuries, where a sparkling array of drag queens escorts him through episodes ranging from the joyous eccentricity of 18th-century camp to the horrors of the Nazi concentration camps.

This epic journey culminates in a powerful intergenerational scene between Isaac and his 90-year-old Great Uncle Pete, played by national treasure and gay icon Ian McKellen. The film combines a wide range of cinematic styles, shifting seamlessly from kitchen-sink drama to ambitious episodes of surrealism.

With a powerful score of original music that will keep you humming, there is something in this unique work for everyone. Dragged Through Time was made by Notice Productions, a youth film-making group based in Windsor, Berkshire, and premiered at the town's first Pride event. The project made international news when McKellen's involvement was announced.

The film is recommended for those 12 and above. It contains references to moments of suffering within LGBTQ history.
