Ascot Carriages: Carriage rides in Windsor Great Park

About

Enjoy carriage rides in Windsor Great Park with Ascot Carriages

Carriage tours start from outside The Savill Building at The Savill Gardens, TW20 0UJ.

The award-winning Savill Building is the main visitor centre for Windsor Great Park with cafe, shop plus all the visitor facilities and plenty of parking.

The carriage can be found one mins walk to the right of Savill Building by a Cream House, there’s a bench seat and our sign to mark the spot.

Ascot Carriages is a small family business and we’re fully insured to offer a personal and professional service including luxury carriages for weddings, film work and exclusive carriages to Royal Ascot.

Travel through the Windsor countryside away from traffic, and relax and unwind as you discover the area from the comfort of an elegant horse-drawn carriage.

Your carriage driver/guide can provide history and lesser-known facts about this beautiful royal park.

We operate all year round, between 11am and 4pm, on selected dates*.

Rides are weather permitting; please pay cash on the day.

You may reserve your special date up to three months in advance or call on the day (before 10am) to check we are operating.

Our 4/6 seat country carriage seats a maximum of four adults and two toddlers (aged 3 or under) or a combination (60 stone weight restriction applies).

Have a photo taken with our family-friendly carriage horse and our historic carriage which was previously used by the late Lieutenant-Colonel Sir John Miller, Her Majesty The Queen's Equerry and horsemaster for 26 years.

We have easy-rise steps, cosy lap rugs and umbrellas for your comfort!

Ascot Carriages' Romantic Wedding Proposal and Special Occasion Drives

What could be more romantic than travelling on an elegant horse-drawn carriage and stopping by a beautiful 18th-century lake?

We believe we have one of the best places in the country to propose, hidden away in the heart of Windsor Great Park.

Take a stroll to the Georgian footbridge with diamond-patterned balustrade and decking, the ideal place to go down on bended knee.

When you return to the carriage we’ll have champagne and glasses ready for a celebration toast and of course we can take photos with your camera.

Call Jo on 07811 543019 to see how we arrange the surprise.  The back-up plan – should the weather prevent the carriage operating – is a covered area in The Savill Garden; a bridge by the stream all ready for you!

From £150, including champagne.

Ascot Carriages' Special Vintage Afternoon Tea and Carriage Rides, Monday to Friday

Carriage rides are weather permitting and subject to midweek availability.

Ascot Carriages' Private Drives

Annual highlights include: Valentine's Weekend, Mothers’ Day, Spring Azaleas and Autumn Acers Colour Spectacular, Royal Ascot Week, Festive carriage rides at Christmas and New Year.

From £150 per hour

Family Carriage Rides

Family carriage rides are available on selected dates throughout the school holidays.  See the calendar on our website or please call for dates.

Children of all ages will enjoy meeting and having a family photo with Henry our gentle Part Shire Horse. The carriage seats four adults, or a combination of up to two adults and four children under 12 years (maximum six seats).

We travel at a relaxing pace, in timeless style on private roads and woodland paths, to see a restored 18th-century lake with a summer display of glorious waterlilies complete with Diamond Jubilee Arbour unveiled by The Queen in 2012.

We can stop by the lakeside for a picnic and for children to enjoy the pond life or just sit back and enjoy the tour and history of this beautiful landscape.

30-, 60-minute tours and picnic rides available.  The 30-minute family ride is £60 per carriage.

Rides are popular so early booking recommended, its weather permitting, so just pay cash on the day, and we contact you the day before to confirm we are running once we know the weather forecast.
