The Musicians of Bremen

A tumbling spectacular in Maidenhead this half term

A visually stunning adaptation of the Grimm fairytale from French company Compagnie Animotion. The Musicians of Bremen tells the tale of four animals who become extraordinary friends. The show is at Norden Farm Centre for the Arts on Monday 22 October at 2pm and 4.30pm. Tickets are £10 (£8 under 16s), Family and Friends (4 people) £32. Recommended for ages 3-7 years. This is a non-verbal work which is perfect for hearing impaired as well as hearing audiences.

The Musicians of Bremen tells the tale of four animals put to pasture: a donkey, a cat, a cockerel, and a dog. They are too old to be of any use to their masters. The show explores their adventures finding each other, and their extraordinary friendship despite the odds. This tumbling, musical journey explores these extraordinary friendships. It shows that despite our differences, we can be friends, and that we are never too old to live our dreams.

The show touches on the subjects of old age and attitude in our society. It addresses issues of prejudice and discrimination, and celebrates the wisdom of the older generation and their contribution to society. There will also be an opportunity to meet the artists and puppets after the show.

Compagnie Animotion was founded in 2005 by artistic director and performer Hayli Clifton. Her aim was to create visual and international theatre and promote sign language and Deaf culture. Compagnie Animotion is now one of the leading companies making work for Deaf audiences. Their work uses no or very little spoken language, transcending boundaries between hearing and non-hearing communities as well as international audiences.

With puppetry, movement and trapeze, all accompanied by live music, this tumbling spectacular adventure shows that we are never too old to live our dreams.
