DAY ONE
10am to 1pm
Windsor Castle. Discover the castle with an audio guide (available in eight languages). A special family audio guide is available in English. Allow 2½ to 3 hours to tour the castle. Look out for special family activities during the school holidays and on certain Saturdays.
1pm to 2.30pm
Have lunch in one of Windsor and Eton’s many restaurants, pubs or cafes. If you wish to go back into the castle later on, get a wristband from one of the castle’s shops before you leave so you can get re-entry.
3pm to 4pm
Boat trip on the River Thames with French Brothers then feed the swans.
4pm to 6pm
Windsor Leisure Centre (leisure pool with waves, slides and Jacuzzis).
DAY TWO
All day from 10am
LEGOLAND® Resort Windsor. Hands-on entertainment for children aged 2-12. Over 50 interactive rides, live shows, building workshops, driving schools and attractions set in 150 acres of beautiful parkland. Shuttle bus available from Windsor town centre. Legoland tickets available at Royal Windsor Information Centre.
DAY THREE
London. Enjoy a hop on-hop off bus tour and see the famous sights of the British capital. Pick one or two of more than 100 museums and art galleries (many of them are free of charge), see the London Dungeon, Madame Tussauds, the Tower of London – the list goes on! It's easy to get to London from Windsor; there are two train lines and one bus service connecting Windsor with London and it will take you no more than an hour to get there.
DAY FOUR
Take the family to Hampton Court, the palace of Henry VIII. You can take a boat from Runnymede to Hampton Court Bridge (check www.boat-trips.co.uk for schedule but generally summer months departing 9.15am). Visit the palace and return to Windsor by train.
DAY FIVE
Get outdoors!
• The Savill Garden, Windsor Great Park. Created in the 1930s for the Queen Mother, with over 35 acres of trees and shrubbery, ponds, streams and flowers. Under 6s have free entry to the garden. There is also a children's play area near the Obelisk Pond, great walks, restaurant and shop. 10 minutes' drive from central Windsor.
• The National Trust Cliveden. Stunning gardens, breathtaking views. Play area, extensive walks and a maze. A day out for the whole family (9 miles/15km from Windsor)
